French Colonization in North Africa and Middle East
Suez Canal, Egypt
The Suez Canal located in Egypt is one of the few sites which the government is now trying to conquest. It seems that the battle for this vital trading mark has been lost for the moment. Nasser and Egypt seem to now have absolute control over the canal under the supervision of the United Nations.

Talk About "Perfect" Timing
With the uprising against Russian Domination in Hungary and Poland, the involvement of the Soviet Union in Eastern Europe, and the all the attention on American Imperialism, it seemed like the perfect time for the French government to strike and strengthen their dominance in the Middle East. It also seems we're not alone in taking this course of action for the British also decided to restore their dominance. It was expected that the Israeli would not let us get away with this without conflict. The collision was inevitable. Relations with the Middle East have been said to be to "restore order and peace". With all due respect, problems begin at home so they should be solved here first. Both France and Britain claim to fight for order, yet it is indubitably certain that they have their eyes on the prize; Suez, oil, and strategic location of the Middle East.
Mandate Period
A Mandate is an official order or commission to do something. It is usually involved with politics when a government takes over another one and influences them greatly. After the fall of the Ottoman Empire, French Mandate in the Middle East increased. They set up colonies in Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine. These colonies were for the purpose of extracting oil resources and expanding companies.
New Boundaries
Now following World War I, many new land boundaries are being drawn in North African and the Middle East to satisfy Anglo-French interests. What used to be Arab Ottoman provinces is now known as Iraq. Also, Syria is being diminished in size to expand Palestine, and Lebanon. This of course leads to consequences such as war with nearby tribes and allies. So France, thought it was over by now? Not even close.
